ABOUT ME
State Sen. Cyndi Carrasco was elected in 2023 to represent Senate District 36, which includes portions of Johnson and Marion Counties. She is the ranking member of the Senate Committee on Corrections and Criminal Law. Carrasco also serves on the Senate Committees on Environmental Affairs, Insurance and Financial Institutions, and Judiciary. Professionally, Carrasco is the vice president and general counsel for the University of Indianapolis. Previously, she was the executive director for the State Ethics Commission and was the first female inspector general for the State of Indiana. Carrasco grew up in El Paso, Texas where she attended University of Texas at El Paso and earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science. She then received her Juris Doctor degree from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. Carrasco and her husband, Robert, live on the south side of Indianapolis with their daughter Sarah. They are members of St. Francis and Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church.
