GENERAL COUNSEL, DIRECTOR OF POLICY & LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS
Tim Brown serves as the General Counsel, Director of Policy & Legislative Affairs for the Indy Chamber. He began this role in 2016. Tim is responsible for negotiating, writhing, reviewing, summarizing, researching and executing a wide variety of agreements for companies and clients, including marketing agreements, entertainment, licensing, real estate leases, confidentiality agreements, and other general business contracts both domestically and internationally. He provides effective advice to senior management on company strategies and their implantation, manage the legal function and obtains and oversees the work of outside counsel. Tim also serves as the Director of Legislative Affairs where he advances various advocacy goals for Indianapolis region’s business community.
Prior to joining the Business Advocacy Team, for the past eleven Indiana General Assembly sessions, Tim served as the Director of Legislative and Policy Services for the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC). In that role, he was successful at working to pass favorable laws for the agency and was equally effective at building a consensus across the aisle to pass Department backed legislation into law.
Tim is from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He graduated from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee with a dual degree in Business Administration and Political Science. He later moved to Indianapolis to attend The Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law where he earned his J.D. while also enrolled in the Indiana University Purdue University-SPEA Program where he earned his Master’s in Public Affairs.
